This was my second Mother's Day in a Disney theme park. I LOVE Mother's Day at Disney! They are so nice to Mommies. First, as you walk into the park they give all the women flowers, real ones, beautiful and colorful carnations, and everyone tells you Happy Mother's Day all day long. The flowers I got, which ended up being two, I was able to save and put into a glass and set on our dining table at the condo we stayed at for the remainder of our vacation after our stay at Kidani Village. I liked that personal touch, and if I stay at a condo like that again, which I'm sure I will, I'll probably go ahead and add fresh cut flowers to my grocery list so we can all feel a little more at home.
On Mother's Day Shawn and the kids bought me an adorable little coffee plant planted in a little ceramic giraffe from the gift shop in our lodge. I love it so much! It managed to survive the trip home with us, and is growing big and beautiful. I was worried about going from humid FL to dessert UT but it's surviving. Maybe it's the love. I do talk to it... occasionally. ;)
The morning of Mother's Day my beautiful and very generous mother-in-law was able to get us preview tickets to see the new Avatar Land before anyone else!
Woah! It's amazing!
The six of us had a great time exploring, and riding their new rides Flight of Passage and Na'vi River Journey. The first I was actually able to do twice because my little princess was too scared. The ride is a little different then sitting in a normal seat. You sit on what looks like a motorcycle, and it holds you in from behind. She felt like she was suffocating, so she was escorted out. I felt bad, she really missed out. It was a beautiful and exhilarating ride.
The land is unlike anything I've ever seen before, and I hear it only gets about a million times better at night. Lucky for everyone else, it's officially open now. We have it on our bucket list to go back and experience it in the dark. We ran into a man who said "even things you wouldn't think could light up, do". If that's not exciting I don't know what is.
Because we were the first ones into the park to experience the new land, we were able to avoid a lot of the crowd that came in after us. It felt extra special. I think it's a wonderful addition to Animal Kingdom.
